THE ZULA PATROL is based on the book series by Deborah Manchester and teaches science and astronomy facts to the 4 to 8 year old target audience. The Zula Patrol is a group of six animated aliens, headed by Captain Bula, who carry out a variety of scientific space missions. During their missions, Captain Bula and his crew often encounter their foe, Dark Truder, and his minion, Traxie, who are trying to take over the universe. Over the course of the story, the audience learns different facts about a specific space topic, such as stars, planets, orbits, moons, asteroids, comets, gravity, and space probes. The information is then highlighted during a segment where crew member Professor Multo delivers his "Multo-Moments" or summary of scientific facts from the story. Typically the stories also provide a social-emotional tag based on tolerance and non-violent conflict-resolution.

MY FRIEND RABBIT models constructive problem-solving for young children, ages 4-8. In each episode, the story characters find themselves facing a different dilemma that is drawn from a typical childhood experience. Rabbit and Mouse usually lead us through creative problem-solving, which involves tenacity and working in teams. The group may figure out how to make the most of a bad situation, invent toys from everyday objects, solve some of nature's riddles, respect their differences, or take care of others who need a little extra help. The characters specialize in coverting a challenge into a social activity filled with optimism, creativity, and humor. The series helps children learn to "think out of the box" by showing viewers how the characters work together to come up with possible solutions, and persist with new ideas when one solution fails.

ZODIAC ISLAND provides CORE programming in the areas of nutrition and exercise, ecology, and teamwork. Children can learn that fruits are healthy choices for their bodies and that exercise such as swimming is good for their overall health. ZODIAC ISLAND teaches how children can protect themselves from the sun and how important the sun is to our planet and ecosystem. Children learn that the sun and the rain are very important in creating food and keeping our planet beautiful. The introduction of lakes and rivers teach young children how important water is to our planet. ZODIAC ISLAND emphasizes the importance of being kind to each other and using teamwork to accomplish goals. The program uses the technique of twelve animated animals to teach children about the earth and friendship. No two animals are alike but they all have the same basic needs. Real children from all over the world narrate and give a little commentary about working together. This combination is very effective in conveying to young children how important it is to be kind, work together and respect our planet earth.

Describe the program.
Studies indicate that a significant population of young people today pressure themselves and get pressure from their parents to create a "teen resume" that is extensive. Their goal is to succeed at almost everything including academics, school clubs, volunteering, working a paying job, student government, and athletics. Some succeed well in spite of the pressure while others are receiving therapy, taking medications, or losing their childhood. GAME ON examines this delima and how pressure can be a positive and negative influence on young lives.

On Saturday, August 29, 2009, all children's programming was suspended due to the breaking news involving live coverage of the funeral of Massachusetts United States Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Two 30 minute "CONNECTING WITH KIDS" specials dealing with issues affecting teens are planned for the Fourth Quarter of 2009. WPSD is including a segment on its Saturday morning newscast entitled "Hooked on Science." The segment features scientific experiments some of which are conducted live in the studio with students from local schools participating. Station personnel conduct tours of the broadcast facilities for school classes and civic groups. This gives a practical insight into television programming and operations. An internship program is offered for college students to give practical experience to complement academic courses.
